During the summer going into 5th grade, my mother organized a local running club that I hesitantly joined. What started as a simple activity during the summer has steady grown into one of my defining identities: being a runner. So far, I have run over 6,000 miles, and my ultimate goal is to run a total distance equivalent to the Earth's circumference (24,901 miles)!

Middle School

For three years in middle school, I ran cross-country at Baseline Middle School in South Haven, MI. Participating in this sport was a watershed moment, for it taught me how to handle stress and perform under pressure at a relatively young age.

High School

While at Saugatuck High School, I had the pleasure of running for coaches Rick Bauer and Angelina Bauer for four years. This was an invaluable experience in which I made friends that I'm still in contact with today. Feel free to check out this interview of me describing my high school running experience.

College

I also had the pleasure of running cross country and track for Hope College. Between classes and research, running served as a much-needed break and a way to meet exceptional people.

Graduate School

Since moving to Fort Collins, CO for graduate school, I have been enjoying the gorgeous trails and challenging running routes.
