Music

I love listening to, playing, and talking about music! Since my sophomore year of college, I have been trying to listen to a new album everyday. So far, I have listened to 1300+ albums, and my goal is to surpass 10,000.

During quarantine for COVID-19, I began playing the acoustic guitar. After returning to Hope College for my senior year , I took lessons and conducted three performances at the end of the year.

While learning the acoustic guitar, I became a disc jockey at Hope College's radio station. Each week, I played an album chosen by Hope students representing various multicultural student organizations such as the Black Student Union, Latino Student Organization, Asian Student Union, and Pan-African Student Association. On air, we would play the music and discuss the cultural significance of the songs with the goal of exposing the Hope College audience to different genres of music. Thank you to all who participated!

The Strummers

After graduating from college, I formed a rock band with my friends from high school called the Strummers. We covered songs by bands such as the Cure, the Ramones, the Misfits, and the Stooges. It was an excellent way to spend my last few weeks in Michigan before I left for Colorado! During the winter of 2021, we reunited for a show at a local venue. It's been an excellent way to stay connected with old friends!

Rattlecaps

After a few weeks of moving to Colorado in 2021, I bought an electric guitar and became the guitarist and vocalist for a local punk rock band called The Rattlecaps. We have played at a music festival at Fort Collins (FOCO MX) featuring dozens of other local groups. As of March 2023, I stepped down from the Rattlecaps to focus on other hobbies.
